Leaving Jack Behind

We decided to start the new year quite lazily.
Since it was such lovely weather, and since Nic., the only working figure in our household, is in education (a headmaster, mind you) – we decided to take a long afternoon walk in De Kemphaan, a huge piece of land maintained by the city of Almere, also containing a mini-zoo and some other attractions. Most of the attractions were closed, but the walk was beautiful, and we saw some unique animals. Foxy sure had lots of fun.

So first of all… a very happy new year to everyone!! Hope all of you had a smashing new year’s celebration and a good start of the new year..

We really had a great party – thanks Pascale and Bart! With way-way-way too much (and delicious) food and tons of fireworks. It was so much fun to see the whole Kramer-family get utterly excited over lighting their own fireworks, that I even forgot my fear of it from time to time. You’ll find below some pics of them playing with the firecrackers, and I guess the smile on Paulien’s face says it all .

Ok,
Let’s try to make a short summary of the last few days.

23rd:
We had Ramesh & Monique over, that was lovely. We played some games and talked about being jobless (happyyy!) and carless (not so happyyy!). Oh, and about quitting smoking. Hmm..

24th (Christmas eve):
We played Scrabble (Pauli won), and then when the clock sounded 12 ding-dongs we exchanged a small amount of kisses and a BIG amount of presents. Always good. And most importantly – we ate some ragout. Let me tell ya, you really wanna try that here.
Dinner and proper celebrations were postponed by one day.
