New Zealand
The Sharing Shed

New Zealand contains several themed highways, each one following some specific notion or particular scenery, and are (at least as far as we know and have seen) well signposted along the highways, and even have each their own themed icon. When driving out of Auckland on our way north, we started following our first one – the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, properly iconed:

Today we continue following it, and will keep on doing so all the way up north and then back down to Auckland, as this particular one is circular – discovering, as its name suggests, the two coasts of the northernmost parts of NZ.
Northbound

This is it. We’re officially starting our road trip in New Zealand. You have no idea how excited we are about this. We said goodbye to Stankie in the morning at Pentlands and then we decided to head to Northland. This is the most Northern region in New Zealand, above Auckland Region. It’s supposed to be one of the greenest regions of New Zealand, and since green is my favorite colour..
Interlude

So.. we had to wait for a call from Mark from the garage to see if Gramps was okay. We decided to spend our time in the library until he would call, so that we could answer some mails and write on the blog. Apparently, Auckland has 17 libraries (!) and we were walking distance from the Central City Library. Little did we know that using the internet at that library is somewhat similar to slowly walking barefoot on a pool of burning coals – ridiculously slow and agonizing. We literally only managed to click about 3 times per half an hour, and we walked away rather frustrated and unaccomplished. Travelers – do avoid the internet in that library. We learned later on that smaller towns yield MUCH better results.
