China
The Forbidden Palace
by Cinnie on Feb.14, 2010, under China
Due to some Internet limitations we’ve been having (and will have), we’ll have to keep our posts a bit more compact. Sorry for that. Although, maybe you’ll actually like it better.. Who knows..
We woke up to the new year and felt like tigers! Ehm.. not really, but we did feel like discovering Beijing. It turned out to be a freezing cold day – not so much because of the temperature but more because of the ice-cold Siberian wind.
Arriving in Beijing
by Cinnie on Feb.14, 2010, under China
The flight to Beijing went all according to plan and we landed at Capital Airport the same afternoon. With some ‘local’ help we got into the airport shuttle and this bus was supposed to drop us off close to the hostel that we booked. It seemed like a solid enough plan. Unfortunately it didn’t really work out as planned and before we knew it, we were at the last stop and far away from our hostel. Great. We tried to convince the bus driver that he should let us stay in the bus and drop us off at the right place on the way back. When he finally understood (even though, we’re still not entirely sure that he did), he told us that he would only leave an hour from now. Not so wonderful. Okay then. Time to navigate in Beijing on our own!
A Taste of Xi’an
by Cinnie on Feb.13, 2010, under China
We totally underestimated Deer Air, because after 2 hours we safely touched ground at Xi’an Airport. To our pleasant surprise we even received lunch on the plane, which was rather tasty. Plus my very friendly Chinese neighbour on the plane gave me his cherry tomatoes, so all and all I’d say it was a very successful flight.
Oh, almost forgot. Remember Ohad talking about something fishy? Well.. when we retrieved our bags Ohad found out really fast that his bag had been swimming in some lovely fish juice on the plane. OMG, the smell!
